I too have been accused of "talking like a white girl" (which basically means I speak proper English). This comment still makes me roll my eyes when I hear it. I mean why is it that if you are black and you don't sound ignorant as hell you are trying to be white!!! I mean I can't get any blacker inside or out!

My favorite incident was when I was admired for my ability to pronounce the word ASK correctly. A young man (white man) pointed out the fact that I don't say "axe" instead of ask like some black people do. I was somewhat offended by his comment, I mean....most people who say axe don't even realize it. If you grow up hearing incorrect English or the incorrect pronunciation of words there's a good chance you'll speak poorly and think nothing of it. Unfortunately, everyone does not receive a good education at school or at home.

I really *hate* when we start to divide amongst ourselves and say ''oh she's a bounty'' or he doesn't act black. What the hell does that mean?

Barack O and everyone else accused of this (me included) just need to do their own thing. I have been accused of this so many times just because I speak English properly (it is my second language so i will speak it the way i was taught at school). No one is going to make me feel like I haven't 'blackened' it up.

The black race in general can come across looking so pathetic and childish by saying someone doesn't act black enough. Are the accusers blacker than the accused just because there are more of them? This mob mentality needs to stop.

Passionate rant over :)

I have only ever had such suggestions from black people (to my face!). In particular, I was often told when I was younger that I didn't speak/act like I came from the area in which I grew up. I would ask 'How do you expect me to behave/speak?'. None of them ever told me but I suspect they thought I should be standing in a dark corner waiting to mug someone, speaking in a way that was incomprehensible to anbody outside of my 'gang' or that I should be having a break at Her Majesty's pleasure (in prison).
