This remix of “Have You Seen Her” by Just A Band has been musical crack to me for the last week or so. I cannot stop listening and have had it on auto play & non-spot repeat.
So soulful, so beautiful, so black.

This video is AWESOME!!!

Forget best & worst dressed Oscar picks! I’ve come up with my own hot mess Oscar winners based on last night’s performances? Like to hear it? Here it go….
- Best Stunt Queen performance during a red carpet interview – Sacha Baron Cohen / Although funny as hell, he goes over the top way too much.
- Worst wig on a Black woman during a video montage – Gabourey Sidibe / What was that on her head, a mangy wig or a Persian wool coat?
- Best white person rocking black face during a movie vignette – Billy Crystal / I was like really? It was too much but it was funny.
- Best partially exposed nipple during an award presentation – Jennifer Lopez / At first I was like is that a nipple or a shadow of a nipple, then I realized that it was not a shadow, just a straight up nipple.
- Best attempt to be sexy while looking malnourished during an award presentation – Angelina Jolie / She killed me doing her leg. I felt her thought but she looked like she needed healthy meal.
This is one reason why I love NYC… I mean, where else in the world can you assemble a mass amount of people for the purpose of song, dance & soul???
And to be fair, Everbody knows….. that I came up with the idea for a Flash Mob last Wednesday:
“I’m calling for all of my fellow Americans to join in a flash mob Soul Train Line to celebrate Black History Month & the life of Don Cornelius… Meet me on MLK Blvd.” ~ Tafari Stevenson-Howard

I don’t watch many shows on television. Maybe like 4 or 5 shows weekly and then, I’m mostly watching via DVR.
When I bumped into Marshana Dahlia Ritchie pictured above, I believe she told me that she was on “The Bachelor.” I never watched the show so I was totally out of the loop about her but I can now say that she was pretty nice and had great teeth. I like nice teeth!
I did do some web surfing on Black contestants or lack there of on the “Bachelor” & “Bachelorette.” Pretty interesting reading on the diversity front.

Everybody knows that I LOVE house music & everything that it stands for!
One of my favorite house artists without a doubt is Osunlade! If you read my 2011 wrap up then you know that seeing him in Chicago last summer was all that & more.
This video interview offers a nice window into Osunlade’s world! Kinda tripped out to know that he lives in Greece. That was unexpected.
I was further amused by saying that he was planning on releasing his music at a much slower pace because after Pyrography was released last year, he said in an interview that he was done all together. So, I guess this is some good news here!
If this song doesn’t make you happy, dance, or do a disco spin then you have some issues in your head!

My friends at Exposure.Detroit have invited me to exhibit at the upcoming photography show at the Woodbridge Pub. I’m really excited and nervous because the date is rapidly approaching. I really need to get my materials together. I know what I want to show but… So much to consider.
I have 2 weeks to work my magic…
Date: 12.10.11
Time: 7pm
Location: Woodbridge Pub | 5169 Trumbull, Detroit, MI
Hope to see you there!

I was in the media riser photographing the Tracy Reese runway show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week when I spotted Brooklyn based singer “Raye6” in the audience. From her serious pompadour, you can imagine that she was not easy to miss.
After the show, I quickly packed my camera so that I could get a quick photo up close & personal.
As she made her way outdoors, all kinds of cameras were whipped out. I actually watched a camera team interview her about her look etc. She broke it down from head to toe. It was fun to observe & I enjoyed how she batted her flirty eyes with those super lashes.
So of course, when I got back to my room, I did some Googling & found some great photos & good music of Raye6. Looks like she is really doing her thing on the New York scene!

Yesterday, I photographed the “Parade Day at the Park” event for The Parade Company at Comerica Park. This was my 2nd time working this event for TPC, with the first time being last year. Last year was one for the record books because it was soooooo super hot! When my assignment was over, you could wring out my shirt & get a cup of sweat.
When I was contacted to work the event again this year, I had heat flashbacks that made me sweat.
Parade Day at the Park is very fun as a spectator and from my angle as the photographer. Kids all over the place, face painting, clowns, a marching band, parade floats, beer, baseball etc.

One of the cooler points of the event is being able to go onto the baseball field to catch the ceremonial 1st pitch.
Yesterday, Makayla McCoskey, the reigning America’s Thanksgiving Parade® Queen tossed out the 1st ball on behalf of TDC.
I met Makayla last year when I was one of the TDC’s “Princess Scholarship Program” judges. I was very happy when we learned she winner was because Makayla is quite a force in her academics, charity work & volunteerism.

Some of the perks from winning the Princess Scholarship Program include:
On a related note, I was asked to come back as a judge again this year for the program. This time, I will be prepared with a little experience under my belt.
Anyway, the other fun item from the day was the kids. I think they were kindergartners. I took a photo of one of the kids after his face was painted. Next thing I know, I’m surrounded by kids asking me to take their photo. Do me! Take my picture! Let me see! It was funny.

After my camera was packed away, I relaxed with friends and enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers beat the Kansas City Royals 5 to 4. It was a great nail biting kind of game… And for the record, I am not a sports fan.

This time last year, I was nervous as hell about photographing at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week for my friends at The NYLA Report. I had an idea of what to expect but that did not settle my anxiousness at all. You may remember me talking about it non-stop.
With two seasons of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week under my belt now, I am relaxed. Perhaps, I may be too relaxed because I have not contacted many designers for access, which means that I will be emailing my butt off over the next few days.
Right now, these shows are on my schedule to photograph:

My regular life begins again….
T-8 days before it all goes down!

Just got home from Vegas & had a wonderful time. The SHRM 2011 annual conference was amazing. Staying at the Aria hotel was amazing. Enjoying new & old friends was amazing…. I could go on & on.
On a not so cool note, I never made it down to the Las Vegas sign like I had hoped. I packed my have ass tripod, and a bunch of other junk for nothing. And I really anted that picture but see, what had happened was…
Anyway, in the AM, I leave for DC for a super long weekend with friends. Looking forward to being back in DC; my home away from home. Hoping to have a few good meals, tons of laughs & kicking at my Sip & See, which is set for tomorrow evening.
I’ll be back next week and back into my photography groove.
I’ll holla!
