At the farmers market the other day, I stumbled upon a vendor who had all types of basil. Not all that exciting, right? Well, it kinda was because she had Thai basil.

I’ve only had Thai basil at Thai restaurants in some of my favorite dishes but I’ve never seen it in stores.  I had a quick sample & was all in. So of course I purchased a bunch.

It smells soooo wonderful & the bouquet was visually appealing.

Sunday night, we used it in a great chicken stir fry with red pepper, shallots, cashews, sweet soy, chili paste served atop of jasmine rice.

Next summer, I’m mos def going to find some seeds so that I can grow it in my container herb garden. Shit, I may try to hunt down a plant next week when I head to the Detroit farmers market. There are a few herb vendors there. I may get lucky!

Cousin Dee stopped over today & I decided to make it a cocktail hour type situation at the last minute.

So I made a mad dash out to a few stores to gather a few things for an anitpasta plate, which was totally inspired by the Barefoot Contessa, Ina Garten.

I also prepared a refreshing globe artichoke salad that was dressed lightly with a pear champagne vinaigrette, which was topped with gorgonzola & shallots.

I also came up with a sparkling cocktail that contain my raspberry vodka, fresh mint, a hint of sugar & Ooba hibiscus lime soda. It was AWESOME!!!! We tried to give it a name but after 4 of them, it just didn’t happen!

If I make it again, this year, I will be sure to post proper photos & a complete recipe. Stay tuned.

Anyway, when Cousin Dee arrived & saw my spread, she was soooo excited. So was I because I put a lot into my presentation & thought into my flavor combinations.  Plus, this is the type of stuff we get into when it comes to food & entertaining each other.

Over snacks & drinks, we had a great end of summer time on the deck catching up on the latest personal goings on, petite mouths, hot gossip that could end relationships/lives depending on who found out & just plain talking shit.

Suite Suzy & I recently got the kids a Wii along with some fun games & they are loving it.

After spending 8 hours hooking that bitch up & figuring it out, I’m now realizing how fun it actually is. Mario Cart is my shit BTW!

With a little practice in now, I see the potential for Nintendo to add in some adult oriented entertainment.

It’s been a while since I have actually written a poem but my boo inspired me last week when she presented me with a delicious gift.

When I post floral photos on my Flickr page, I usually get a ton of comments about my composition, colors & subject, but lately, I have been getting comments like, “this looks erotic”, or “this very sensual” or “So close, it becomes erotic”.

Last week, when I went to my local farmer’s market I picked up this Celosia so that I could a) enjoy it & b) photograph it. It was not until I was done photographing & processing my images that I got the whole sensual or erotic floral eroticism out of my work.

I found this image & the companion images to kina erotic & kinda sexy even? I think it is the color contrast but I could be wrong or have a weird sex fetish ready to pop ou, otr maybe I just have issues in general???

This week has been a damn trip on a political note big time. I have been so into what’s been going on that I was lost on what to write about so this post will be a little schizophrenic. Before I get into the recap jump off, I want to tell you that your boy has lost a total of 22lbs to date!!!

• OK so I tripped the fuck out when I heard about NY gov former NY gov Spitzer quit his damn job after getting caught up in a prostitution ring. I really did not give a fuck if he quit or not, but I think he did the right thing & without a big to do. What really tripped me out was how much money he spent on pussy. 80K is a lot of damn money!!! The one question on my mind was how good is a piece of 4k pussy, what does that shit feel like, what does it taste like (tropical punch skittles perhaps???), is it gold plated, does it talk & better yet, can you only hit it once or do you have to pay again after you bust that 1st nut? Well, I guess I had more than one question.

  So the mutha fucka quit but now everyone is focusing on the poor victim/pussy giver upper Kristen or whatever the fuck her name is. I think it’s great that the media & others are embracing her plight as a high price call girl with a troubled past. I wonder what her rates are now??? • On a similar note, Detroit playa Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is still refusing to give up his job citing that GOD appointed his bitch ass. What kinda GOD is that???

  He has been caught up in a ghetto fabulous pussy based scandal for weeks & he still refuses to leave office. OK, so this mutha fucka perjured himself on the witness stand while on trial, is caught up in one of the countries hottest text messaging scandal ever which indicates that he gave city contracts to friends, fired veteran officers who were investigating the party he threw when the stripper that was setting him off got her ass beat by his wife with a bat and so much other shit.

  Most recently, he acted like a total fool during his state of the city address this past week. He called people out, used his wife & kids as a way to deflect from his misdeeds, called the local media a lynch mob in additions to saying Nigga while on a live broadcast. Has he lost his damn mind???

  His arrogance is really an insult to the fools that put him back in office. The only way I see him leaving office is in a body bag because someone will have to take his big ass out (not me nor do I advocate violence to those who have a thug like mentally). Kwame is straight up a sociopath & a US based Idi Amin/Charles Taylor but with less genocide, little to no cannibalism.

• The Democratic presidential race is getting on my damn nerves. Yes Barack won MS! But why is that fact over shadowed by the fact that he won because of the Black vote? Barack is not a fool & knows that Negroes heading to the poles will not get him in office solely. One thing I know is that he needs to step his game up because Billary is ready to take a bite out of that ass.

  It is sad that I think Barack needs to get dirty to keep up with Billary’s race baiting backbiting game. That camp is not fucking around & willing to sacrifice all left lung to get back in the Whitehouse. After the Geraldine Ferraro comments & defense this week, it was clear to me that the Billary campaign is drenching with institutional racism down to the core. And that apology to Black church leaders in PA & Ferraro leaving at the end of the week was too little too late in my book.

  A while back I said if Billary got the nomination that I was not going to vote in Nov 08. That since has changed because I like McCain’s old turkey neck, barracuda toothed ass a lot better. Billary has totally lost me! I cannot believe Billary had the nerve to say that she wants Barack to be her bitch VP, and I like what Barack said: when you are a LOSER, how can you someone beating you ass to take a 2nd seat (Byg-paraphrase). In his strong “denouncement” of her schizophrenic passive-aggressive statement, it would have been so perfect his he ended with Bitch are you crazy!

  Lastly, Barack, your religious affiliations are fucking you up! Your pastor says some good shit & I agree with a lot of it but white America is not ready for that boo. You should have been a Buddhist instead.

• MI & FL, give it up! Rules are rules & you broke them. A redo should not be on the table & the fools that decided to vote should have keep their non in the know asses at home. The DNC said many months ago that the votes would not count. Why are people tripping??? I think the millions of dollars that it will/would take to re-do a primary can go into some community based programs, the educational system, public safety, foreclosure prevention or something that will actually benefit people.

• Why did them niggas in SC kill that white girl??? As soon as I saw the photo of the suspect, I threw up in my mouth & was like damn, that chicken still tastes good & then was like WHYYYYYYY they had to be Black??? Can you say race relations set back! You just can’t be killing white womens’. The entire nation gets evolved in that shit & will hunt a mutha fucka down. But for real, it was fuck up that they killed her. Was it that deep for a few bucks? Now they will be in prison for life getting their young asses blew out OZ style.

  And how many minority women disappeared this week & were killed? Why do we have to ask this question??? The disparities are enough to make a nigga go crazy.

I think this is all that I had on my mind for the past few days.

Here are a few images that I captured at the 2008 Detroit Dirty Show (an erotic art exhibition). If you are a people watcher like me then you would have enjoyed the visual orgy of interesting sites.

This event marked my last photo assignment with the Detroit Fashion Pages for a while. I sat down, did the math & figured that currently, this is not worth the time spent (although I love the social high life). Not only, that when I shared my decision with the family, Olivia was happy & said that I could spend more time with the family. I was proud to hear my baby break it down like that.

Another factor that also played into my decision was that I was offered a photo editor position back in Sept/Oct 07& I was so excited. Well after waiting months for it to materialize, it never happened. That news was very disappointing especially after I was basically promised that it would go into effect Jan 08.

The cool thing overall is overall is there are no burned bridges & I left the door open for me to be available for special assignments & maybe some gigs in the summer.

My plate will be totally cleared once I finish this last website, which should be this week. At that point, I will be able to concentrate more time on this damn math class.

Why is that when Negroes are in boiling water they all of the sudden call on “the church” to help their asses out. Why come they were not up in the church trying to help them get out of whatever it was that got them into trouble.

Today, Detroit news outlets reported that Kwame Kilpatrick will finally be addressing the sexy text message scandal tomorrow from his church @ 730. Why did it take a week!!!???

When I first saw this headline, I sighed out loud WTF! I am like you should have been up in your pastors office last week instead of being all up in Christine Beatty while on vacay @ a spa in NC.

I’m also tripping on the fact that Kwame & Christine are now both being surrounded by spiritual supporters/advisers. One of the pastors last week said that we should not judge the man & let him work through this drama with the help of the lord.

To that, I’m like, wait, so you, the pastor are telling us not to judge him but 2 years ago you told us to judge him & doing it by casting a vote to get his monkey ass re-elected! So basically, you are telling me to judge him when it is beneficial!!!

Classic example of why we need a separation of church & state. Too many pulpit pimps, leading fools to do foolish things.

I remember 2 years ago when I was a church attending Christian during election time. My then pastor told us basically to vote against a proposal that would allow gay marriage in Michigan. I almost stood up & said something but Suite Suzy was like don’t go there. When I was going to a church, I was not there to talk politics & suppress the rights of other.

Anyway, I am hoping that Kwame tenders a resignation tomorrow so that the city can heal (said in my best sarcastic voice). Oh the drama!!!

On another but similar note, I was having an internal conversation with myself today & questioned what song would Carlita & Christina sing to Kwame if they had the chance. The first thing that came to mind was “The Boy Is Mine” by Brandy (1998), but then I thought that was too juvenile. Then after some real deep thinking, I came up with “Let No Man Put Asunder” by First Choice (1977), which is perfect for the situation. You see, music can be applied to anything boo!

My mother always told me to never get my milk where I make my bread & I thought that was a pretty common sense thing to live by.

Well, I guess Detroit’s ghetto fly mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, was never taught that lesson by his mother, Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick. I am sure you know that Kwame is fucking his chief of staff Christine Beatty & has been for years. The two recently perjured themselves (lied about having a sexual relationship) on the witness stand during a trial where two former Detroit popo’s sued for a wrongful discharge & won 9 million mutha fuckin’ dolla’s.

Why does the city of Detroit have to pay for Kwame’s pussy getting escapades???

He really needs to step down & save his self from some of the national coverage that is blasting him for being a philandering lying as nigga! I guess, what is also tripping me out is that he has a house filled with young sons & a half way decent looking wife. What message is he sending those little boys & does his wife make him wear a condom? How embarrassing!!!

I am not up for breaking down all of the bitter details that are being pumped out by the media but I will admit that I’m enjoying every minute of it. I cannot stand Kwame & think he is the worst thing to hit Detroit since crack rocks.

He is always caught up in some shit and has been since his 1st term in office (now on his 2nd). I was shocked to fucking death when Detroiters put his ass back in office. Who in their right mind will elect a mayor with thug passion in his heart to represent them???
